Funk the Planet is a 24/7 online radio station devoted entirely to the groove. Broadcasting from Santa Barbara, we celebrate more than fifty years of funk and all the sounds it inspired, curated by veteran DJ and programmer Vince Leo.

At our core, we play funk: from late‑60s pioneers to ’70s deep cuts, ’80s boogie and Minneapolis Sound, ’90s and 2000s nu‑funk, and today’s modern groove makers. Around that core we spin classic soul, jazz‑funk, old‑school and golden‑era hip‑hop, neo‑soul, new jack swing, and related styles that share one thing: a deep, undeniable pocket. If it’s got funk in its DNA, it belongs here.

Funk the Planet grew out of years of funk and soul programming on college and community radio. When those shows ended, the idea was simple: take that crate‑digger spirit online and build a station where the groove never stops and the history is respected.
